Welcome to the Enfield Good Samaritan Network
The aim of this initiative is to more effectively provide support for people with addiction and mental health problems. We also wish to promote recovery to the individual and community. This will also help to raise awareness around the recovery process and reduce stigma to aid re-integration into society.
We intend to do this by creating a network of faith groups, voluntary support groups and service providers in the areas of drug and alcohol addiction and mental health who can follow the pathway of someone who is suffering an addiction and help them reach recovery.
Given the challenge of public spending restraints it is important at this time to identify and support the community and meet the challenge to support some of the most vulnerable people in our community who are dealing with the problems of addiction and mental health.
Finally, we want to be positive and optimistic about the value of each individual. We will promote recovery and will raise the voice of the service user in recovery.
Our first task is to find out what services are in Enfield and to signpost people to them. We also want to find out the gaps in provision. So if you are a service user or provider make sure you have your say through this website.
Our second task will be to celebrate recovery by holding ‘Recovery Champion Awards’. We held our first on 10th March 2011 at Southgate College. Click here to view photographs from the event. Please nominate your recovery champions by getting in contact with us.
